Dr. Brent's Bio

About fifteen years ago something happened that changed my life.  I was a college student playing tailback for the football team, but I developed a painful leg condition known as “meralgia paresthetica.” In my case it came on suddenly.  The pain in my leg was so intense that I couldn’t run. I was afraid that I’d lose my position on the football team if the disability continued.  After going to several Orthopedists and Neurologists they could not find what the problem was. The only options they gave me were physical therapy, painkillers and muscle relaxers or as a last options surgery.  I decided against it.

A friend suggested I see a doctor of chiropractic. “A chiropractor?” I said, “Are you crazy?” He explained to me that his whole family uses a doctor of chiropractic regularly for all types of health problems. I wasn’t about to give up the one thing I loved, so I decided to give it a try even though I was still a bit skeptical. The doctor did an exam, took a couple of x-rays, and then showed me my problem. I started care, and I couldn’t believe it, the pain was gone almost immediately and the numbness gradually went way over the next couple of weeks. The funny thing is it actually felt good. Soon after that I noticed my asthma also disappeared. I was so excited, I’m sure you guessed it; I became a Doctor of Chiropractic myself.

I graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in June of 1999.  After graduation I moved out to Colorado to be closer to my mentor "my brother Dr. Brian" which was a Electrical Engineer at the time and in October 2000, I began my first practice in Highlands Ranch.  After a few years my brother "Dr. Brian" became the office manager and the practice grew to be one of the largest in Colorado.  I sold the practice at the end of 2005 and moved back to Missouri to be with my family and to be there for my father that was diagnosed with cancer. While in Missouri Channel 8 news did a Your Health Story on my office which is posted on our website because I was the only doctor utilizing the Pettibon System in the area.  For the last 2 years my father has been in remission and doing well.  But because of my love for Colorado and the great relationship with my brother, Dr. Brian Belener,D.C that graduated Valedictorian on April 2008, I decided to move back to Colorado so we could practice together.  Also for the last 2 years my father has been in remission, doing well, and encouraged me to get back to Colorado where my heart was.

So in July of 2009 my brother and I joined forces once again at Spine Re-New, the proven postural correction and spinal rehabilitation center.
